Maria on shoulders on the way to the WYD

The pilgrimage with the image of Our Lady of Fátima to the World Youth Day was designed of as a procession model that crosses several locations, following what the theme of this World Youth Days proposes “ Mary arose and went with haste”. The image of  Our Lady of Fátima will be carried on shoulders when crossing these locations and by car, at slow speed, at other times.

From Vila Franca de Xira to Cais das Colunas, in Lisbon, the pilgrimage will be made by sea, with the wooden platform of Our Lady of Fátima transported on a vessel belonging to the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, escorted by fishermen, private people, sea scouts and the Portuguese Navy.

There will be moments of prayer, silence, songs, sharing, celebration in the style of the scout movement where all young people are very welcome to be.

Every night, in the presence of the image of Our Lady of Fátima, there will be a moment of vigil open to the entire community.

One of the pilgrimage routes will be done at night.

It will have logistical, health and safety support and a pedagogical proposal where the spiritual dimension will be explicitly present.
